Nau mai, haere mai ki te Kura o Maungatapu

Welcome to Maungatapu Primary School

Te Kura o Maungatapu is a school with a proud heritage and rich history, established as a native school in 1881 and originally sited in Te Hono Street, where the All Saints Church now stands.

We are a dual medium, decile 5 school that recognises the special character and unique nature of our land, history and people.

With approximately 500 pupils, we have 23 classrooms in the Mainstream (Auraki) where teaching and learning is based on the New Zealand Curriculum.

In Te Pūwhāriki (Rūmaki) we have 5 akomanga where teaching and learning is delivered via full immersion Te Reo Māori, based on our own localised curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
