He Kupu Pouārahi

A Word from our School Leaders

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa.
Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura o Maungatapu

Welcome to Maungatapu School. We are a proud school with a rich history that centres its learning programmes around positive relationships. It is imperative that we get to know you and your child so that we can do everything we can to assist our children in reaching their utmost potential. It is equally important to provide a learning environment that is positive, caring and safe for all children.

People are the most valuable resource in any school. We are really fortunate to have an excellent teaching team who are passionate in ensuring our Maungatapu School children achieve success academically, socially, culturally and emotionally.

Kī mai ki āhau, he aha te mea nui o te aō? Māku e kī atu he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.
If you were to ask me what is the greatest gift in this world? The answer would be “It is people, it is people, it is people’’.

We cater for children in both Rūmaki (Māori language immersion) and Aūraki (Mainstream) education in a positive and inclusive school environment. This allows children the opportunity to engage in a wide range of learning opportunities.

We have a very successful Board of Trustees that provides effective governance to allow for improved student outcomes.

I look forward to meeting with you and your child and welcome any new families to visit our wonderful school. Maungatapu Primary School is a great place to learn for everyone.

Tane Bennett, Principal

Kia ora e te whanau, e oku hoa, ko Owen Allsop toku ingoa.

He Tumuaki Tuarua ahau ki Te Kura o Maungatapu.

Maungatapu School is a school that strives in every way to provide a nutrient rich soil in which every child can grow and flourish into their fullest potential.

At our school we instill in our learners a sense of adventure and inquisitiveness (encouraging and supplying opportunities for our children to be curious and wonder about the world around them). Being collaborative and working with others are important skills we teach to set up our tamariki to be expert communicators and team players. Our school believes that children develop into successful New Zealand and global citizens by being kind to each other, kind to their whānau and kind to their environment.

Perseverance plays a big part in the attainment of one’s goals and ambitions and this is something we believe is crucial for our children to learn as they go through their journey at Maungatapu School. At Te Kura O Maungatapu we believe that every child can succeed and excel in whatever they choose to pursue and we, as educators, will support and encourage them to meet their goals.

Owen Allsop, Deputy Principal.
